Billions of people use social media, making it a goldmine for scammers. They exploit the trust and casual nature of these platforms. Here are common scams on Facebook, Instagram, and TikTok.

1. Fake Giveaways & Celebrity Endorsements

You see a post from what looks like a celebrity or major brand offering a huge giveaway. To enter, you just need to share the post and click a link to "claim your prize." The link takes you to a site that harvests your personal information or asks for a small shipping fee, stealing your credit card details. These often use AI-generated images or videos to look real.

2. Romance Scams

A scammer with an attractive profile picture strikes up a conversation. They shower you with attention and build an intense emotional connection over weeks or months. Once trust is established, they'll invent a crisis—a medical emergency, a business problem—and ask for money. They will always have an excuse for why they can't meet in person or video chat.

3. Fake Job Scams on LinkedIn and Facebook

A recruiter reaches out with an amazing job offer that seems too good to be true. The interview process is quick and unprofessional, often conducted entirely via text or messaging apps. Before you're "hired," they'll ask you to pay for equipment or a background check, or they'll use the "new hire paperwork" to steal your identity.
